I am an architect, product designer, and director of the Jakarta office of Tokyo-based Kousou INC. Born in Bulgaria, practiced in Japan and now based in Indonesia, my experiences have taught me that in essence, design is an act of providing for a need.
Born in Bulgaria, practiced in Japan and now based in Indonesia, my experiences have taught me that in essence, design is an act of providing for a need. This could be the need for shelter, security, access, knowledge, gathering, community, beauty, or simply, enjoyment. This belief has informed my research and practice for the better part of the past decade, and recently our team’s efforts were recognized in Japan by the Wakayama Prefecture Architecture Award for our contribution to local community development through design. No matter if it is a building or a simple cup, every project is an opportunity for positive change.
